Virtual pets are something that people seem to have an insatiable need for. Whether it’s Tamagotchis, Pokémon, or Furbies, people just can’t get enough of them.
Consider downloading the free Touchbar Pets app on your MacBook if it comes equipped with a Touch Bar and you’re interested in taking care of a new digital animal companion. Adopting a pet, taking it for a stroll, giving it food, and playing with it are all things that can be done directly from the Touch Bar.
This guide will walk you through the process of getting Touchbar Pets set up and adopting your first pet.
Contents
You will need to begin by downloading the application from the website of the developer.
Once you have your pet looking just way you want it, you can go on to the next step by clicking the “Create” button.
You will then be sent to the main menu of the game, where you will find a tutorial waiting for you. You may learn how to play the game by clicking through it, or you can check out our instructions down below.
After you have finished going through the lesson, your new pet will be waiting for you in the Touch Bar, along with its four individual statistics.
You have access to an inventory with six slots and five choices below it when you access the main menu. Each of them carries out a certain purpose and contributes to the whole.
Tokens earned during the game will be spent in this section. You have the option of purchasing food, accessories for the environment of your animal, and toys for it. Be sure to read the description of each item carefully since every animal has its own preferences when it comes to food and other things.
Be aware, though, that both food and toys are one-time-use items; after your pet has played with them, they will no longer exist, and you will need to purchase them once again.
In the event that your pet passes away, you have the option of purchasing a “RevivePotion” for 150 tokens. This will restore your pet’s full health.
This is generally going to be where the most of your time is going to be spent.
You may take your pet out for walks by pressing and holding your finger on either side of its habitat once you have selected a walk length. You have the option of selecting “Short,” “Average,” or “Long,” depending on how long you want the outings to be. You are required to maintain contact with the Touch Bar during the whole of the stroll.
Tokens worth $50, $100, and $200 will be awarded to you based on the length of the walk that you successfully complete. However, in order to claim your prize at the conclusion of the trek, you will need to travel the full distance.
You’ll have the opportunity to unearth wealth as you go down the path. At a distance of every 250 metres, there is a possibility that you may stumble across a treasure chest that can be opened to reveal a reward. There is also a random possibility that you may come across rubbish, which, when tapped, can reward you with a valuable item.
On the other hand, make sure you pay attention if your pet defecates on the shoulder of the road. You will be required to clean it by tapping into their excrement, and if you do not, you will be fined twenty dollars.
By selecting this option, the “Design” mode will be activated, and you will be able to position objects inside your pet’s habitat.
When you are in the Design mode, you may put a prop by clicking it in your inventory and then tapping a location inside the habitat where you want it to go. Keep in mind that none of the accessories have any use; their only purpose is to make the environment seem more endearing.
When you click the “Mode” button, you’ll be able to toggle between two different icons, which is in contrast to the other buttons.
You are now in the “Eat” mode as long as the bone symbol is chosen in the menu. This allows you to choose an item of food from your inventory by clicking on it, and then you may put it in the habitat by tapping on the appropriate location. Your animal companion will rush over to it and devour it. This is how you may maintain its appetite as well as its health, as you would have anticipated.
You are now in the “Play” mode if the tennis ball symbol is chosen on the screen. When you click a toy in the inventory and then touch the screen to put it, your pet will come over to investigate the new toy and then begin to play with it.
Remember once again that food and toys are one-time-use items; once you put it, it will be consumed and removed from the room in a matter of seconds.
The Goals option will provide you with a list of objectives to achieve, each of which will be marked with a checkmark and a star after they have been completed. This should feel quite familiar if you’ve ever played a game that has achievements.
You may also access the in-game tutorial whenever you want by going to this menu and unchecking the first “Tutorial” objective. This can be done whenever you like. As soon as you leave the Goals menu, you will be sent back to the beginning of the course.
Only one of your pets may reside in a habitat at any one moment. You are, however, free to take on more than one pet, and to move between them, just restart the programme and choose “Existing Pets” when prompted to do so on the first page.
It is important to keep in mind that in order to see your pet, you will need to have the “Touchbar Pets” app active on whatever display has the TouchBar. If you go to another application or move the app window to a different display, your virtual pet will be deleted.
